PUERTO RICO YAUCO SELECTO COFFEE In the early 18th century, at the same time as coffee growth in the Caribbean Islands, coffee was already thriving in the land of Puerto Rico. The Spanish immigrants came to the land in 1736 and used the fertile valleys of Puerto Rico as the location of their sugar plantations. In the 19th century, French Mediterranean island residents coming from Corsica came in as migrants to Puerto Rico. They were forced to leave Corsica because of the unrest in Europe. The Spaniards may have felt threatened when they learned that the French migrants were going to farm. To protect their valley with rich fertile soil, they told them to take the highlands. Obediently the Corsicans took the southwestern mountains of the island, Yauco. It came to pass that Yauco coffee became the best coffee in the region commanding premium price in the European market. It bears the standard of excellence in production that the rest of coffee producers wish to imitate.
Puerto Rico has become the 6th largest coffee producer in the world today. Puerto Ricos skilled farm workers in Yauco carefully maintain the excellent reputation of Yauco Selecto coffee from its cultivation and throughout all the stages of processing. These coffee farm workers continue the tradition of excellent farming handed down to them by their ancestors. Yauco Selecto coffee is grown the organic way. The fruit of their labor is a bean that is considered to be Puerto Ricos finest specialty coffee. It has full body with creamy buttery taste and chocolate undertones, red wine fruity top note and hint of earthiness. Now, how is that for your morning coffee?
The citizens of this world should be thankful to Puerto Rico for producing this unique tasting Yauco Selecto coffee and for Yauco coffee producers for maintaining an eco friendly environment in the region.
